The term “gentrification” generally gets a bad rap and the ongoing tension between developers and longtime residents of the South Bronx over this word is no exception. At a recent event, Bisnow’s Bronx State of the Market, Bronx developers got together to defend their position. They feel that the transformation of the neighborhood through their development projects will improve the neighborhood and give residents more services. They were quick to point out that they do not expect it to become another Williamsburg, and will remain “much more working class”.
